Innovation Day 2024

This year we had to make our own sled i worked with Georgia this year and the name of our sled was Fireball we got our idea from the song Fireball by Pitbull.

The hardest part was definitely building the actual seld, me and Georgia has never worked with a drill so it was very difficult. There were many ideas at the beginning of our process that didn’t end up working as we wanted it to so that was another challenge. Even though we went through many challenges we still made it work by the time it got to innovation day.

This innovation day was very hard but also very fun I’m so glad that this was my last big project from Mr. Ray because it was a very fun time!

Voici ci-dessous mon projet sur Prezel or.

Terry fox campaign project

Terry Fox Campaign

This was an exciting and fun project! My partner Sarah made it so much better. In this project, we had to pretend that we were Terry Fox when he ran the Marathon of Hope but that’s not it we had to pretend we were Terry Fox if he had social media. We had to pick a social media platform and make 10 posts. In the end, my class showed our projects to our reading buddies the grade 3’s.

My goals for this year

We had a project where we had to brainstorm 4-5 S.M.A.R.T. goals that you have for the upcoming year. Then we had to think critically about what you would like to improve upon/change in your life.
I think that goal setting is very important because you should have a goal so you can help you to reach your goals in life.

Here are my goal for hebrew

I want to keep my Hebrew so that it remains good.
I want to pass my exam in Hebrew

I want to pay more attention in class

I want to get better at writing

My S.M.A.R.T. goal is… Two practical steps I can take to achieve this goal are…
Be a better student
  • Try harder in class
  • Try to participate in class
Don’t procrastinate
  • When I get a project, I start working on it early
  • Take breaks after I work as a reward
Get into a better morning routine
  • Ask Mia Lelli for advice
  • Try to wake up earlier in the morning so I have time to do other things
  • Go on a run before school
Know 20 more words in French by the end of 2023
  • Try harder in French class
  • Ask for help if I need it
Try my best in gym class to play more
  • Try to play sports that I usually don’t play
  • Participant in class

Prikei Avot Playlist Project

In this project, we had to pick 5 or more verses and pick 5 or more songs that relate to the verse that we chose, here is my project.

#1

I chose the song All I Want By Olivia Rodrigo for verse number 3. (The verse: Be careful with the government, for they befriend a person only for their own needs. They appear to be friends when it is beneficial to them, but they do not stand by a person at the time of his distress). This verse is telling you to not trust the government because they would only befriend you for their good. And when you need help from them they would turn their back to you and not help you. The lesson you can learn from this verse is don’t trust the government because they will turn their back on you.

In the song, Olivia says I found a guy, told me I was a star. He held the door held my hand in the dark. And he’s perfect on paper but he’s lying to my face” This song relates to this because it tells you about how you became close with someone and then they turn their back on you. Even though this song does not talk about the government it still relates to this verse in many ways.

#2

I chose the song Karma by Taylor Swift for verse number 6. ( The verse:

He also saw a skull floating upon the water. Said he to it: Because you drowned others, you were drowned; and those who drowned you, will themselves be drowned). This verse tells you that if someone has done something bad to you they will get hurt. And if you hurt someone you will be hurt too. The lesson you can learn from this is don’t hurt someone because you will get hurt too, in other words, karma.

In the song, Taylor says Cause if you dare, you’ll see the glare. Of everyone you burned just to get there. It’s coming back around.” This song relates to the verse because Taylor says that if you look and see the person that she talks about would see all the people that they hurt to get where they are right now. Which is the same thing that this verse is telling us.

#3

I chose the song Nobody’s Perfect by Jessie J for verse number 10. ( The verse: [Rabbi Yochanan] said to them: Go and see which is the best trait for a person to acquire. Said Rabbi Eliezer: A good eye. Said Rabbi Joshua: A good friend. Said Rabbi Yossei: A good neighbor. Said Rabbi Shimon: To see what is born [out of ones actions]. Said Rabbi Elazar: A good heart. Said He to them: I prefer the words of Elazar the son of Arach to yours, for his words include all of yours). This verse tells you that this is telling you that people have different good traits and different bad traits or that everyone has things that they are good at and things that they are not. The lesson for this verse is that Nobody is perfect and everybody is good and bad.

In the song, Nobody’s Perfect Jessie says “‘Cause now I’m the one that’s hurting, yeah. And I hate that I made you think that the trust we had is broken. Don’t tell me you can’t forgive me. ‘Cause nobody’s perfect”. This song relates to this verse because everybody is bad and good, nobody can be completely perfect and have nothing bad about them.

I chose the song Do You Really Want Me by Robyn for verse number 12. (The verse: Rabbi Yossei would say: The property of your fellow should be as precious to you as your own. Perfect yourself for the study of Torah, for it is not an inheritance to you. And all your deeds should be for the sake of Heaven). This verse tells you that someone’s things should be as important to you as it is important to them. A lesson from this verse is Other people’s things should be as important to you as it is to them, which is also respect.

In this song, Robyn says “That you love her that you need her say. That you want her in every way. You gotta show your girl a little respect. Or you won’t get nothing back but hate” This song relates to this verse because you need to show everybody respect and if you don’t give people respect they won’t like you.

#5

Last and not least I chose the song Nearsighted by Rupert Holmes for verse number 4. ( The verse: He would also say: Make that His will should be your will, so that He should make your will to be as His will. Nullify your will before His will, so that He should nullify the will of others before your will…). This verse tells you to not judge people until you stand in their place.  And a lesson you can learn from this is don’t judge someone until you stood in their shoes. In other words, to not judge a book by its cover.

In this song, Rupert says “I don’t judge a friend or lover. By a first or second look. Nor a book just by its cover. I can’t even see the book”. This relates to the verse because one of the main lessons you can learn from this verse is to not judge a book by its cover and this song talks exactly about not judging people by their cover.

Innovation Day Reflection

This year’s Innovation Day has been a blast! My partner Sarah and I created our own filter and explored and researched a country called Eritrea. We started with finding the country that we wanted to focus on. Did you know that Eritrea is the country that has the worst water quality?

In the start, I felt like I had a lot of time and that I shouldn’t be worried, as I moved along I felt like I wasted my time and I had to get a move on. At the time that we were working on our projects, my partner Sarah got sick. Sarah was away for about 3 days and we still had a lot to do so I had to get going with our project alone. I called Sarah and we tried our best to work together in the end, we got most of our project done!

Next time I wish I would have worked harder at school and not waited until the last minute. The problem with that was that in the end, we had a lot of work to do but not a lot of time.

Holocaust Remembrance Day

About a week ago it was Holocaust remembrance day we has 3 options:

1: Podcast

2: Personal Narratives

3: Compare and Contrast: Watch the following videos

And I chose the option 3

Answer the following questions:

    • Who were the Righteous Among the Nations?
    • The non Jewish people who risked their lives to help the Jewish people.
    • Do you believe the non-Jewish members of society were responsible to look out for/speak up for their Jewish neighbors? Why or why not?
    • Yes I do think that more people should have spoken up because, maybe if some more non jewish spoke up and helped maybe the Holocaust would have ended faster and less jewish people world have died.

Here are the video’s
